IFCU joins the Steering Committee of the Global Catholic Climate Movement

IFCU is part of the Steering Committee of the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM). Created in 2015, this movement is based on Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ Encyclical that states the Church’s position regarding the world’s ecological and social situation. As such, it encourages members of the Catholic community, including universities, to become involved in a committed approach to ecological and social major issues.

To do so, the movement has a large number of activities within Catholic institutions: ecospirituality and eco-conversion programs, sustainable development, advocacy for greenhouse gas reductions and compliance with the Paris Agreements, as well as consultations in favor of the withdrawal of fossil fuels.

We invite universities to follow the activities of the GCCM, especially the Divestment Campaign, which proposes the disengagement of Catholic institutions from companies that degrade social ecology and the environment.
