Expanded Reason Awards: Innovation in Scientific Research and Academic Programs

The University Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Madrid, in collaboration with the Vatican Foundation Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI, has organized in 2017 the first ceremony of presentation of the Expanded Reason Awards, at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.

The purpose of this awards ceremony is to celebrate and encourage innovation in scientific research and academic programs. This initiative is fully part of Benedict XVI’s vision of expanding the horizons of reason.

367 projects were presented, mainly in the fields of philosophy, theology and humanities on the one hand, and laws, economics and social sciences on the other. 170 universities have been participating in this 2017 edition, coming from 30 different countries. The submission of projects for the second edition began on October 1st, 2017, and the deadline is April 4th, 2018. The list of winners will be published in July 2018.
